The 28th Shanxi Economic Summit Forum held successfully Chinese and foreign economists discuss the transformation and development of resource-based economy

In this golden autumn of October, the 28thShanxi Economic Summit Forum co-hosted by FOM University of Applied Sciences for Economics and Management and our university took place. More than 400 people including experts and scholars from domestic universities and institutes, representatives of public institutions, and teachers and students from schools and research centers of our university gathered together to contribute ideas and suggestions for ‘the transformation and development of resource-based economy’.

President Liu Weiqi gave an opening speech on behalf of universityParty Committee, administration as well asall teachers, students and staff. He pointed out that Shanxi as China's important energy base and an old industrial base, has made important contributions to national economic construction but also has paid a heavy price for its long - term overloaded coal mining, so structural transformation of the economy is imperative. He stressed, General Secretary Xi Jinping recognizedthe efforts of our province inpromoting economic transformation and development over yearsduring his visit to Shanxi this year, and asked Shanxi to speed up its leading and exploratory efforts to explore new paths of development.

Professor Eignestetter from FOM University of Applied Sciences for Economics and Management made a keynote speech onDevelopment and transformation of the Future Tourism Industry in Shanxi Province. Considering his own work experience and the same problems with transformation of the resources structure in Germany in the 1970s, he analyzed situationsthat may occur duringthe process of transforming the resource-based economy ofShanxi Province, offeredopinions and suggestions, and emphasized the importance of university education and how to promote development of tourism.

In addition, experts and scholars from China Industrial Economics Magazine, Land Development and Regional Research Institute of National Development and Reform Commission, Peking University and Shanxi Academy of Social Sciencesheld discussions on how to practice transformation in Shanxi and problems to think about around the theme of the event.
