The year of 2017 is radical, fundamental and pivotal to the “13th Five-Year Plan” of SUFE. We are focused on the strategic priorities of “house building, talent poaching, ethos promotion, spirit fostering”, undertaking the primary missions of “Loyal SUFE, Innovative SUFE, Inclusive SUFE, Influential SUFE, Enlightened SUFE, Happy SUFE”, and implementing the “165” general layout of “Highlight 1 Principal Line, Prepare 6 Campaigns, Constitute 5 Systems”; moreover, we will stay true to the mission, swim with the tide, reform with keen determination and smooth away difficulties to make notable achievements in our work, especially emphasizing on “Six Great Changes” of “Great Change of Development Concept, Great Change of Campus Environment, Great Change of Service Quality, Great Change of Campus Culture, Great Change of Mental State, Great Change of Development Trend”.

Encourage the talent attraction and cultivation for a more optimal structure of faculty members.A great undertaking calls for a great plan. We have formulated and implemented the unconventional method of talent introduction, and secretaries of Party Committee and deans of college have made written commitment, resulting in attracting and enrolling the number of 95 diverse talents, inclusive of 3 members of the “100 Talent Program of Chinese Academy of Science”, 11 members above associate professor of title and 33 excellent doctorate members from the “Double First Class” universities, 4 newly-added principal investigators in provincial academy, 1 member of Sanjin Yong Scholars and 1 member eligible in the Person of the Year 2016 as the teacher of national college ideological and political theory course.

Aim at and focus on the first-class to significantly enhance the integral discipline level.SUFE has made an impressive achievement in the fourth round of disciplinary assessment among the universities of finance and economics across the country, and SUFE ranks 6^thin Business Administration, 7^thin Marxist Theory, 9^thin Theoretical Economics, 9^thin Statistics, 10^thin Law, 12^thin Management Science and Engineering and 13^thin Applied Economics; furthermore, for the 16 B and B+ disciplines granted to Shanxi Province, SUFE has acquired 3 such disciplines, accounting almost 20%. In addition, there are 1 newly-added provincial key discipline, 2 provincially predominant disciplines and 5 bachelor-degree accredited disciplines.

Take the opportunity of teaching assessment and promoting construction to intensify the reform to constantly improve the quality of talent cultivation.We will exert every effort in problem-orientation, talent fostering, mobilize everyone to heighten responsibilities to investigate deficiencies, and implement it at every level to make solid progress to accomplish in the undergraduate teaching assessment; we will grasp this opportunity of assessment and corrective actions to launch the comprehensive reform of teaching. In addition, the students in our university have won multiple national-level first prizes and provincial special prizes in various contests; also 17 overseas students, including 3 members with doctorate degree, are recruited, thus making a breakthrough and a vigorous growth in the introduction of international students.

Focus on the demand to effectively motivate the vitality of the scientific research and innovation.The national scientific research projects in our university had a year-on-year increase by 42.9 percent last year, also with year-on-year growth of 45 percent this year, thus reaching new heights; furthermore, our university has acquired 22 planning projects of provincial philosophy and social sciences, ranking first among all of Shanxi colleges and universities, published 73 A-level dissertations and undertaken 120 service projects of Shanxi economic and social development. Meanwhile, the characteristic & preponderant discipline of Applied Economics and the teaching and research innovation team of Accounting are eligible for the “1331 Project”, and there is one newly-added key research base for the provincial humanities and social sciences, also the collaborative innovation center transformed from the resource-based economy has entered into the list of China Think Tank Index (CTTI).

Serve the teachers and students meticulously for the stable growth of their welfare.With 1100 square meters of Sunshine Service Hall established and trail operation followed, 17 institutions and 92 items have settled as the first round. Also more than 700 pieces of normative documents have been cleared and more than 40 items of revised and improved systems have been made. Moreover, almost 100 projects have been constructed to make great changes of the campus environment. We have established a priority-oriented mechanism and set up a team of quality supervision under the guidance of university leadership as well as accomplish 255 relevant items for a high-quality project, a demonstration project and a heart-winning project. At the same time, the new staff residential building is proceeding smoothing, the main structure of new library has reached a roof sealing, and the Dongshan New Campus has access to the stage of feasibility study report. Also, an all-out implementation of the campus card makes it more intelligent and convenient for students and teachers, teachers’ having access to swimming with specified times has gained widespread popularity, and the increasing performance-based salary mechanism is being carried out to ensure the steady growth of welfare for teachers.

Uphold righteousness and nurture the beloved atmosphere with a heart of gold.Love is the soul of education, and the Sunshine Service Hall is a service hall embraced with love, offering the national first-class one-stop service of high quality in a convenient and efficient way. Also, we have established the first Youth Research Association of Xi Jinping New Era of Socialist Thoughts with Chinese Characteristics, reported by the CCTV News, formulated the “Work Plan on Intensifying and Improving the Ideological and Political Work Under the New Situation”, and organized more than 30 professionals and scholars to stay close with grassroots to publicize the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, which have won the unanimous praise from local cadres and the masses. In addition, we have initiated an in-depth activity of “One Learn One Nature”, that is, “Learn a Series of Speeches, Nature the Virtue of Righteousness”, so as to educate all the teachers and students with the Party’s innovative theories. Moreover, great changes of mental state have been made by constantly keeping to “Five Tendencies” and “Sing Reading Doing”, maintaining high spirits, having extensive and profound culture, possessing the power of personality with virtue and kindness, as well as pursuing the goodness and beauty persistently.

Adopt the clarified responsibilities and earnest implementation to comprehensively strengthen the Party discipline.We always prioritize the political construction of the Party, meticulously assume the responsibilities of maintaining the direction, managing the overall situation, making decisions and ensuing the successful executions, greatly strengthen the leading group construction, firmly stick to and improve the principal accountability system under the leadership of the Party Committee, as well as maintain and improve the democratic centralism. Meanwhile, we continue to further advance the special work of “Two Studies, One Action”, “Safeguarding the Core and Following Commands”, “Two Improvements One Creation” and “Three-basic”. Now 26 grass-root Party Committees and 192 Party branches have accomplished the transition, more than 216 Party leaders at the sectional and divisional level are promoted, and 11 thematic training are organized with more than 1000 personnel attended in rotation. Also, we have formulated the working rules of the Standing Committee of SUFE Party Committee, thoroughly implemented the systems of the Eight-Point Regulation of the CPC Central Committee, as well as the report of major events and important work, in the principle of the Party’s exercising self-discipline, so as to reinforce the abilities of managing and governing the university.

Have great news and highlighted achievements with a substantial increase of competitiveness and influence.Shanxi University of Finance & Economics ranked 4^thin the finance and economics of 2017 Chinese University Reputation Ranking, listed 9^thin the finance and economics among the Top 500 Chinese Universities in the International Competitiveness, leaped to 72^ndin the Top 100 Fresh Graduates in Employment Competitiveness, and also was awarded as the title of “Worker Pioneer” by the system of Education, Science, Culture, Health and Sports in Shanxi Province; also “Journal of Shanxi University of Finance & Economics” is chosen as “2017 Excellent International Impact Academic Journals of China” and “2017 Top 10 Social Science Journals of Shanxi Province”, ranking 2^ndin the journal of China’s finance and economics colleges.

2018 is a conquering, pioneering and transcending year to the “13th Five-Year Plan” of our university. Under the guidance of the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, we must show solidarity and be willing and ready to assume our responsibilities to race against time in striving to overcome difficulties in the reform and development with great ambitions; we must climb over one mountain after another in perseverance to expedite the speed to be stronger; we must remain indomitable and persistent to pursue the goal of China’s Top 10 Universities, and strive for the “Loyal SUFE, Innovative SUFE, Inclusive SUFE, Influential SUFE, Enlightened SUFE, Happy SUFE”. Therefore, we must inscribe the excellent performance on the historical monument and take concrete actions to create a historic miracle so as to establish a characteristic, high-level and national first-level university of finance and economics.
